Etter spinning følger strikking

Vest i selvspunnet jakobsull

Jeg startet å strikke følgende oppskrift forrige helg. http://www.sweaterbabe.com/100-little-lace-vest-pdf-knitting-pattern/ og nå nærmer det seg ferdig. Oppskriften er på engelsk og jeg var nok litt klønete i starten frem til rekke 12-13. Men etterhvert falt det på plass og jeg tror resultatet kommer til å se bra ut. Ellers har jeg ikke gjort så mye håndarbeid men har tilbrakt tiden med arbeid. Jeg ønsker alle en riktig god påske.


Here is the result of last weeks knitting. Little lace vest knitted with handspun jacobsheep. I think it was a bit difficult to knit the pattern at start, but after the 12-13 first rows I managed to figure out of it. I wish you all a happy easter. 

Spinning, tvinning og farging

I forgårs spann jeg fletten med Corriedale som jeg hadde farget forrige uke. Den spann seg veldig bra.  Jeg hadde ved tidligere anledninger prøvd å tvinne garn med seg selv (Navajoply), før jeg fikk min Schacht rokk. Det fungerte desverre aldri. Men jeg satset på en ny forsøk og resultatet ble ikke så verst. Nederste bilde er det siste Merinoullet jeg hadde liggende. Det ble en fin fargekombinasjon synes jeg, men rosa fargen er blekere i virkeligheten enn det fremkommer på bildet. Ønsker alle sammen en god helg.

I plyed the corriedale I coloured last week the day before yesterday. Before I got my Schacht spinning wheel I tried that many times but never succeeded. But I had to try one more time and this time it worked and I am quite happy with the result. Last picture shows some Merino I dyed yesterday. The pink colour shows more powerful on the picture than in reality. Have a nice weekend.

Da er jeg

Kjære blogglesere. Nå er det nesten 2 år siden jeg blogget sist. Det har skjedd og det skjer fortsatt en del i livet mitt som har tatt masse av min tid at jeg ikke har hatt lyst og overskudd til å blogge. Men i dag hadde jeg lyst å komme med en liten oppdatering om hva jeg driver med på fritiden. Spinningen har det gått litt opp og ned med. Ellers driver jeg med litt strikking og spinning ved siden av studiene mine som ta mye av tiden og prioriteres frem til November i år, når jeg forhåpentlig er ferdig.

Her viser jeg noe av det som jeg har jobbet med i de siste ukene. Litt farging av merino og corriedale. Jeg har også brukt min bulky flyer for første gang til tvinning noe som var supert da det gikk sååå mye opp på den. Tråden nederst er Jakobsau 276g. Jeg er veldig fornøyd med resultatet og håper jeg kan strikke en vest av det til meg. Jeg har noe i tankene. Såpe har det ikke blitt i  det siste året men jeg planlegger noe til våren.

Hello dear blogreader. It is almost 2 years ago since I blogged the last time. Time flies by. I am busy with some studies but hopefully I will have more time for me and my hobbies when november comes. Last year I had a great spinning experience by joining the national knitting night. ( Se upper link) It was so great and so much fun. 
Today I decided that I want to show you some of the stuff I produced the last weeks. I did some dyeing of merino and corriedale and spun some jacobsheep. I tried my bulky flyer for the first time and it was great for plying the jacobsheep thread. Here are some pictures. 

My new old loom

This is what I bought today. It looks like a "Monika vev (loom), but I am not an expert. Anyway, I found an advertisment in the internett yesterday and it was not too far away from me. Drove there today and bought it. The loom looks quite nice but it is very dirty and looks like not beeing loved for a while.
 Will try to fix/ shine it up during the next days. And than, hopefully I will try it. I have no ideas how but there are books and the internett. If someone has some book suggestions or other ideas please let me know.

Baby blanket

I finally finished my baby blanket made after this pattern:http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/baby-chalice-blanket
I like it very much and Iam quite proud of me that I managed to give it away as a gift for my friends.:p
They became grandparents for the first time and I want to give something special to their grandchild called Aurora:)
The yarn I used was merino superwash which I spun by myself. I think I used a bit less than 200g and the blanket became after blocking 113x60 cm.
Hope little Aurora and parents will enjoy it:))

Angeline wool

We have one grey/ black sheep between all the others and her name is Angeline.http://flowerssaape.blogspot.com/2009/04/her-ser-du-sapen-i-formen.html. Here is an old picture from her when she was still a lamb.
She has wonderfull wool and I spun it direct from her fiber without washing it. It has not so much Lanolin in it so it was nice to have in the hands and on the wheel. Its 3 thread, no Navajo, just 3 real threads together. Alltogether it is 250 g. I need about 200 g more. Have plans to knit a shirt from it, but not sure yet. It have to wait cause Iam off for some works the next month. Afterwards I will fly to Thailand...so looking forward to it. Hoping for 3 lovely weeks in Asia:)
Anyway, I will try to update my Blog but forgive me, if I cant manage it. Have a nice summer all together.

Summer

These are some real summer colours. I just love them. The fiber is from our own sheep: Dalasheep and i dyed with Ashford colours using red and yellow. We have not summer weather yet but these colours makes me feel quite warm. I wish all of you a good weekend.

The result

Here it is. The result of my last week spinning.

Sometimes it is good when there is an internett failure.

Cause in the night from friday to saturday we had such a heavy storm, and thunder and lightning. The lightning caused that all our electricity went and when it came back the broadband was down. After a call to the company we figured out that the router was broken and yesterday we got a new one.

But anyway, I had lots of time to spin and I started knitting on a baby blanket again with some other yarn I made earlier.

You know, I am not a sock knitter. I must admit, I hate it:S

Or do I?

The problem was I think, that I had problems with the heal and cap knitting and that made me frustrated. I allmost allways had a one sock UFO left:(

But this time I bought thikker yarn and I made a for me different heal, called a boomerang heal and it worked allmost fine. Well I finished them and that give me enough confidence to try one more time. The cap went well. And the next pair will hopefully get better.

I hope you had all a very good x-mas and a good start into the new year. Here it was quite good. Kids were pleased with presents and we all had a good time together.

I got myself some Knit Pro needles for x-mas and they are so wonderful to knit on that I finished my shawl Birch http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/falling-birch-leaves which I wrote earlier about.

Yesterday I washed it and tried to block it, but it was not working as good as I wanted. So I had to improvise a bit cause I have no blocking wires or something like it. ( Have to spend some money on it for the next project:p :)

Anyway, here I show you the result from my improvising and I became quite pleased with it.

Yes, I am still an amateur when it comes to Lace but I am working on it to become better. Still I think for my first blocking it`s not too bad.

The shawl is about 2 metres long and about 45cm wide on the smallest part.

Wool for my mother

In the summer I made this: http://flowerssaape.blogspot.com/2010_06_01_archive.html and in the picture you see the final result. But it was quite interesting to see that thing not allways become like you expect them to be:)

Well it was a bit of a surprise when i put the two threads together. But the thread was loved by my mother when she came over in August.

Last week I finished the rest of the fiber that she get the whole yarn for x-mas.

I dont know how many grams or metres it was all together. But I think she can knit a short armet jacket or something out of it.

Yesterday I showed you all the result of my dyeing day. Today I will show you what Ihave made from it;) Iam extremely happy with the result. Isnt it beautiful? Fibermagic:)))

Good morning. Yesterday I dyed some fiber again and it was a lot of fun. The long fiber a got as a gift. Dont know what kind of wool it is. I will guess its norwegian wild sheep from around here but I rly dont know. It was very filthy when I got it and I had to wash it several times before dyeng it pink one of my favorite colours.

There was a small amount of brown fibers too and i left it in the original colour which was actually very nice after several times in the water:)

And the green, yellow, blue one is from our own sheep again.

So as you can see i had a busy day yesterday.

A new shawl

I made a new shawl in between all the other stuff I do atm. Its a xmas present for somebody:) It was very easy to make. Its made from alpakka, but this time I bought some yarn. As you can see I love the colour purple:)

More Nuno

Well I figured out that I like Nuno felting a lot.

Yesterday I gave it a go again. One of the result is with quite strong colours and the other in more soft tones. I like them both. For the soft one I used cotton and the strong colours are on a silk ground.

Fiber goodies

Hello:) Iam back from work and i spun a lot and dyed a bit:) Here are the results from my day.

Its the first time I work with Sari Silk and its quite interesting to work with. And while I spun I thought about what to blend it with cause I will not use it alone, so I thought about something bright, like the colours in the Sari Silk and my thoughts got pink/red on its mind. The firber I dyed is from our own sheep this time and the breed is called "Dala". Its a norwegian breed as far as I know. http://nn.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dalasau (Sry, I only found an norwegian link)

While I was at work in Stavanger i started with a new shawl I will show you one of the next days. Iam not so happy with it yet. Had some problems with the pattern, but now I hope it will work.

Some boucle

Here Iam again.

Iam a bit busy at the moment, because next week, Iam going off to work for some weeks again, so Iam cleaning and painting and moving furniture.

But in my tiny bit of spare time I made this: my first boucle.

The colours are a bit strong and its not much, but technical its not bad at all I think.

Its not much. The thread is made from some orange wild sheep fiber, I died earlier this year and the rest of it, is bought material.

Some red cotton thread and the gold is acryllic I think.

Last week I ordered some Sari Silk at Winghams shop in England and some other stuff too, and I hope to get before Iam off to work.

I will show it to you when get it.

Yesterdays work

Yesterday I made a birthday present for a friend of mine and she liked it very much:) Here it is: a scarf.

Its nunofelted and iam really happy with the outcome of it.

I used black and purple alpacca and some of the orange wild sheep breed fiber I dyed earlier. And some silk hankies of course. I really love silk hankies. They are so usefull:)

Feeling better

Today Iam feeling much better. I want to thank you for the last comments on my writings.

The nature in Norway is great, and I usuall have no problems moving and around, but the class was quite a new thing for me and my dog and so the movement in the mountains. That was a bit too much.

But now I feel better and the weather is absolutley fantastic.

I combined the thread with some purple alpacca fiber and the result is really good. I have no idea yet what to make from it.

But I thought about a shawl or something.
